Over the weekend of Friday 9th June to Sunday 11th June 1995, disorders occurred in Manningham and spread to the city centre. Although the scale of these disorders was limited, the fear that they caused to the local, and the damage that was actually done to local properties and to the local economy, shocked many in the city. Underlying this response was concern that those involved in the violence appeared to have been of one ethnic group and that the victims from other ethnic groups. Many Bradfordians were proud of Bradford's reputation as a multi-ethnic city in which tensions were managed successfully, and, in these circumstances, the Bradford Congress, a voluntary association, decided to appoint a Commission of Inquiry, given the refusal of the central governement to do so. This text details that inquiry.
